⭐ The Ten-Pointed Star — it closes perfectly, and it can never repeat

Cody2 · run 2026-07-12 19:23 WEDT · now: · engine-verified (tools/tenstar_sim.mjs, zero new geometry)

Your instinct was exactly right — and the reason is lovelier than a bug.
Ten Diamond tiles seating their narrow vertices close at exactly 360° — no gap, and every seam between them is edge-lawful. But the centre they make is not one of the seven lawful vertex figures: the law caps thin-tips at 4 per vertex (the “Stretch”), and the star demands ten. Ten-fold symmetry can exist locally — no lawful tiling can carry it. The EEE family’s mark is a shape that can be made but can never repeat. That is the quasicrystal story itself, told by ten tiles.

The picture — where the gaps appear

the ten-star (thin/Diamond tiles) ring 1 — ten Fat tiles, all LAWFUL (“Mentored Pair” notches) ring 2 — ten 108° gaps the law refuses to let you fill

The gaps are exactly the shape of a Fat tile’s soft corner — a Fat fits geometrically in every one of them. The law still says no: filling one makes the vertex {1,3,3,3} (not a lawful figure) or a mis-ordered “Welcome” (cyclic 1·2·3·1·3, and the only lawful Welcome is 1·2·1·3·3 — the two tips must sit adjacent). Fillable by geometry, forbidden by law: that tension IS the finding.

What the simulation measured

1 · Closure: 10 × 36° = 360° — closes exactly, no angular defect.
2 · Seams: all ten shared edges lawful (tip-to-tip 1|1 and base-to-base 4|4 both valid joins).
3 · Centre: {1×10} — not in the seven-figure atlas; lawful max is 4 thin-tips.
4 · Ring 1: all ten notches close as {4,4,2} “Mentored Pair” — lawful. The star wears one full ring.
5 · Ring 2: all ten far-tips stall — every geometric fill of the 108° wedge is outlawed.
6 · Reality check: census over real de Bruijn tilings (radius 8 and 12; 211 and 506 complete vertices): every vertex is atlas-lawful, and no vertex ever seats more than 4 thin-tips. The ten-star appears nowhere, ever.

Why this is good news for the mark

The roster ruling holds the EEE family at ten — and their mark turns out to be the one figure the geometry can build but the law can never let recur. A one-of-a-kind emblem, mathematically. When Cody1’s “tessellate the field” lands in TessaLab, seeding it with this star will paint these exact ten gaps live — the demo is pre-verified. Re-run anytime: node tools/tenstar_sim.mjs.
