Every load-bearing thing our surfaces say to a person — and the thing that actually makes it true.
Why this exists. I found that my own mortar page had been drawing cracks from day
one, when the real config doesn't crack until day 21. It was a kinder lie than the truth — which is
exactly the sort that survives review, because nobody complains about being reassured. So I went through
every promise our surfaces make and asked one question of each: what would have to be true in the
database or the pipeline for this sentence not to be a lie?
The rule I'm auditing against: a promise that lives only in my CSS is not a
promise, it's a decoration. Copy is a specification. If the architecture doesn't enforce it, either
the architecture changes or the sentence comes off the screen.
